Cultivating Spiritual Practices

An in-depth review of core spiritual disciplines and how they support thriving. This course helps you enter into applications that enable a strong connection with the presence of God and how to discern his will for your life and ministry. Each session includes a Journey to Thriving story from leaders who have been on the journey and have discovered the practices that keep them centered on God’s will and purpose.

Learning Objectives:

This course is designed to provide every leader, regardless of their life role or position, a better understanding of how to meditate, know, and discover God through reading and memorizing scriptures. It provides methods and habits to practice silence and solitude and grow in connection with God and his will for your life. You will learn the power of daily prayer and attunement to God's direction and will amid everyday life as an individual, family, and workgroup. Discover the value in of daily reflections and the process of an examen to discern growth opportunities and calls to repentance. Lean into the promises of God and trust his provision by honoring the Sabbath as a day of worship and rest.

Requirements for Receiving Credit:

1. Completing and submitting five Refection assignments demonstrates that the participant has read the required resources and reviewed the presentation content.
2. Engage in all topic forum discussions for all five sessions.

Required Text Book(s)

All required reading is provided within the module. We recommend having a copy of both the NIV and Message Translations of the Bible at hand.

Note: To maximize your experience, plan 1-2 hours per week.

Faculty: Tami Heim, President and CEO of Christian Leadership Alliance

Tami Heim is the president and CEO of Christian Leadership Alliance. Her professional journey includes executive leadership experience in technology, marketing, publishing, and retail. She has served in executive leadership roles at Federated Department Stores and was the president of Borders, Inc. She was also the executive vice president and chief publishing officer of Thomas Nelson Publishers and a partner in a technology firm.

Tami was certified in for-profit board governance through the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Her nonprofit board experiences include EQUIP, Lead Like Jesus, Christian Alliance for Orphans, Growing Leaders, Christianity Today,  National Association of Evangelicals, Best Christian Workplaces, and Christian Leadership Alliance.

She completed the Christian Credentialed Nonprofit Leader  (CCNL) program in 2013 and now facilitates 10-week online cohorts for CCNL-Leadership and the Thriving Leader Series.
