CCNL 1 | LEADERSHIP | Personal, Executive, and Board Governance Leadership
The 10-week course provides the leader of a nonprofit organization with an executive-level view of what is foundational for God-honoring personal, organizational, and board leadership. This course creates a roadmap that lifts a leader to think more deeply about the role of executive Leadership and how senior leaders influence others, the organization, the board, and those the organization serves. The CCNL 1 is a required course for all CCNL program participants. (Three sessions in LeaderLeadershipsessions in Board Governance)

Learning Objectives
- Explore the greatest leadership role model, the transformational leadership cycle, how to develop your leadership mission statement, and guard your heart
- Learn how to define success and put into practice steward leadership responsibilities for Christ-centered Kingdom outcomes.
- Understand the core competencies of a leader and how to develop them
- Review the core framework necessary to be in place for nonprofit board governance
- Understand the CEO’s relationship with the board in leading and maximizing board effectiveness
Requirements for Credit
- The completion and submission of five Reflection assignments demonstrate that the participant has read the required resources and reviewed the presentation content.
- Engage in all the topic forum discussions for all five sessions.

Faculty: Tami Heim, CCNL, President and CEO, Christian Leadership Alliance
Tami Heim is the president and CEO of Christian Leadership Alliance. Her professional journey includes executive leadership experience in technology, marketing, publishing, and retail. She has served in executive leadership roles at Federated Department Stores and was the president of Borders, Inc. She was also the executive vice president and chief publishing officer of Thomas Nelson Publishers and a partner in a technology firm.
Tami was certified in for-profit board governance through the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Her nonprofit board experiences include EQUIP, Lead Like Jesus, Christian Alliance for Orphans, Growing Leaders, Christianity Today, National Association of Evangelicals, Best Christian Workplaces, and Christian Leadership Alliance.
She completed the Christian Credentialed Nonprofit Leader (CCNL) program in 2013 and now facilitates 10-week online cohorts for CCNL-Leadership and the Thriving Leader Series.
